The Tyrrhenian in miniature
The plastic of the VBF Group is modular in accordance with FIMF standards. It has a length of 21 meters and a width of 4 meters.
It was born as "BEL PAESE", an idea born in collaboration with Giampiero Botrini. We used the Rivarossi "Pergine" station, modified with a longer shelter and so it remained for 2 years.
Follonica station
In 1999 I restored everything to transform "BEL PAESE" from a fantasy railway model to a realistic railway model. The railway track, which was already in the unconscious Follonica, it lent itself well for handling and storing trains with a nice freight yard.
With this spirit we have reproduced the Follonica station (dimensions, railway system, civil and railway buildings, signs).
All purely self-built, except the tracks, the concept was already that of Follonica and the modifications to the plan were few, only 1 railway interchange was moved and the traveler's building was built in plywood, after having made various surveys and photos.
In the Follonica station there are 4 portal signals, one different from the other, due to the needs of the multitude of tracks existing in the past, now very scaled down. The VBF model was born in 1995 and therefore the pattern is that of the time.
NORTH side exit traffic lights:
We see in the image how the works were carried out. The 1st track signal located on the left in the assisted exit triangle. The signal on the 2nd track is placed at the end of the walkway, in the exit position. The baskets are made of 0.07 mm brass sheet. A trivial mistake can lead to repeat the work. The illumination is a two-color red / green LED.
The signal on the 3rd track has a single transit basket for the staff and a double basket for the square signal for odd transit and the round signal of the 4th track absent due to the needs of the model. I wanted the basket equally double for aesthetic loyalty.
